| February 6, 2003 RedStorm Scientific Announces Strategic Collaboration with the University of California, San Diego Houston, TX, February 6, 2003 – RedStorm Scientific, Inc. announced today a strategic collaboration with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Under the terms of this long-term licensing agreement, UCSD will utilize RedStorm’s FyrestarTM technology to predict and verify protein structures. The Fyrestar technology accelerates the development of novel protein therapeutics by offering unprecedented insight into their thermodynamic character and solution behavior. The San Diego Supercomputer Center is a research unit of UCSD and has served over 10,000 researchers from more than 350 institutions and 50 industrial partners. Investigators at UCSD are developing a method by which the accuracy of computationally-derived protein structure predictions can be universally and rapidly determined. The lead UCSD investigator in the project, Virgil Woods M.D. stated that, “after thoroughly investigating other computational structure analysis technologies, we determined that Fyrestar is uniquely suited to employ with UCSD's Enhanced Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectroscopy (DXMS) technology and is therefore critical to this novel approach to high throughput protein structure determination". Dr. Philip Bourne, co- investigator in the project, and Director of Integrative Biosciences at the SDSC stated that "our collaboration holds promise in the quest for fast determination of 3-dimensional protein structure from sequence". “We are ecstatic to form this collaboration with one of the world’s leading supercomputer centers,” said Garold Breit, president of RedStorm Scientific. “In diverse environments, investigators have demonstrated that the Fyrestar technology is a powerful, user-friendly tool that allows scientists to explore new questions quickly and efficiently.” About RedStorm Scientific RedStorm Scientific is a biopharmaceutical company utilizing Fyrestar, a proprietary structural thermodynamic platform, to drive the design and development of protein pharmaceuticals. The Fyrestar technology accurately predicts the thermodynamic properties and behavior of proteins including immunogenicity, aggregation, stability and solubility.
